California Stands with Immigrant Communities
Here’s the reality: the Trump administration targets our undocumented immigrant communities here in the United States, even in so-called ‘sanctuary cities.’ They have denied access and are cutting off benefits for federal programs that aid our low-income, marginalized communities with resources for mental health, housing for at-risk youth, youth/adult education, and domestic violence survivors. These programs deliver equitable resources to all in order to help meet people where they are at in order to succeed. These programs are federally funded and were accessible to folks regardless of immigration status, until the Trump administration began and restricted access.
Despite Trump attacking low-income, marginalized communities across the nation, California is not going down without a fight. California has joined the lawsuit against the Trump administration with 20 other states here in the U.S., because we recognize that these programs are essential to those who need them, and everyone deserves to have access. Here in California, we value everyone who is here, especially our immigrant communities because they are our backbone of our state. To take these programs away from undocumented immigrants who already struggle so much is a vile attack on humanity that we cannot let happen.
