California Stands with Our Trans Youth!

Trump has stated that any California school district that does not comply with his administration’s transgender policies will no longer receive federal funding. Prior to this, the Trump administration filed a lawsuit in California over California’s policy on allowing transgender girls to compete in women' s sports. Trump claims that California goes directly against his administration’s policies, and claims that California is in violation of federal and anti-discrimination laws. It is ironic that Trump believes that California is being discriminatory, when he is actually the one who is discrimination against transgender youth.

With his administration cutting funding, there will be a huge budget deficit for public schools in California, which is a big loss for our schools and communities, especially our transgender youth who deserve to be protected and defended against this vicious act. If there was Prop. 13 reform, we wouldn’t have to bend to the whims of the federal government, because we would have our own funding that could cover the money the Trump administration is trying to take away. We should not have to choose between federal funding and trans students' livelihood.
